We’re proud to be the first physician practice to become a Member of the Dana-Farber Cancer Care Collaborative, in recognition of our “demonstrated commitment to excellence by meeting a wide range of standards and best practices in adult medical oncology.”
This certification formalizes our relationship of more than 30 years with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, and is part of our long tradition of collaboration with cancer specialists outside Maine and around the world to advance the effectiveness of cancer treatment.
The benefits of Membership include even greater access to Dana-Farber specialists, which will enhance our ability to help patients beat cancer and enjoy a long and rewarding survivorship.
As part of the membership process, Dana-Farber clinicians and specialists conducted an extensive review of our adult medical oncology practices and procedures at our three primary locations in Maine, (Kennebunk, Scarborough and Topsham), including:
New England Cancer Specialists met Dana-Farber’s high standards, and is now one of only five Members in New England, and two in Maine (along with Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor).
The Dana-Farber Cancer Care Collaborative offers its Members the latest and most effective, evidence-based best practices and standards, as well as ongoing consultations, and access to support services, such as clinical trials, tumor board conferences and physician lectures. Access to on-site specialty second opinion clinics is planned for the near future.
Our Patient Care Teams will routinely review the latest information from the Collaborative in preparing treatment plans for each patient. We encourage patients to ask your doctor any questions you have about how the Collaborative might be involved in your care.
